![]() I've never used the app, but I've heard that it's crappy even though it says that additional coupons are available on the app. There is a mobile app you can download to scan the QR code on the back of the game pieces if you'd rather track them via the app then by using the game board. You have to collect all of the strips to complete one of the images on the board to win a prize. For the game pieces themselves, these are two paper strips that you can tear off from the ticket that contain images from the game board instead of properties. The coupons can be from anything from bread to shutterfly, and one of the instant winners is actually good for two more monopoly tickets. Inside each ticket is, as of this year, two game pieces, an ad for one of the brands participating in the promo, and either a store coupon, an instant winner, or a code for the "second chance sweepstakes" (which is more likely to happen than a coupon or instant winner). You normally will get one plus one per each item marked with a "bonus monopoly ticket" tag you buy. I am willing to debate this in the comments and if you don’t know what Safeway Monopoly is, I can give you guys some rules as I work at a Safeway and have also participated in the promo for fun for the past few years.ĮDIT: Basically Safeway monopoly is played by collecting game tickets every time you shop at a Safeway, Albertson's, or any other store owned by the Safeway-Albertson's company. Nowadays, Safeway has the Monopoly licenses for promos and does one on a yearly basis (usually starting around late February and ending around early May) and contains way more strategy than the McDonalds version (which was just basically random chance) due to the different ways one can acquire game pieces. The scandal was so big, it even spawned a movie based off of it (McMillions) and caused McDonalds to shut down the Monopoly promotion. While this sounds great in theory (pun intended) in actuality McDonalds Monopoly is likely to never happen again due to a cheating scandal that was uncovered. In one of the original five Food Theory videos (I can’t remember which one) MatPat mentioned wanting to do a theory on how to win McDonalds Monopoly.
